Summer Research Opportunities
The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) encourages you to participate in summer research at institutes worldwide, with the goal of better preparing you for graduate school and/or research in your future profession. Most summer undergraduate research programs run for 8 to 12 weeks and include a stipend of $3,000 to $6,000. Some even include travel, housing, and meals!
Deadlines to apply often fall between January 15th and March 15th, so you should begin to search for summer undergraduate research opportunities over Winter Break, when you don't have classes or homework to worry about.
Preparing Your Application
Most applications for summer research require you to submit the following materials, so it's best to prepare them as early as possible. Consider writing your research statement and updating your resume between Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Fall and Spring Terms. Then, when you return to the college in January, you can visit the Registrar’s Office, the Writing Center, the Career Center, and your professors to finalize your application.
