麻豆视频 Recognized at Major State Conference

麻豆视频 received several awards at the Association of Florida Colleges 70th Annual Meeting and Conference in Palm Harbor.

麻豆视频 employees attended Casey Covel's presentation on "Pop Culture Power: Employing Superheroes to Connect with Underserved Student Populations" at the AFC Conference.

The Association promotes professional growth and excellence for employees of the 28 member institutions in the Florida College System, which serves more than 800,000 students annually.

AFC鈥檚 Eastern Florida Chapter earned honors in various areas, recognizing the development of 麻豆视频 employees and programs to better serve students.

Awards included:

  • The Gold Chapter Award for dedication to professional development and exemplary service to AFC and the Florida College System.
  • Three Awards of Excellence for the 麻豆视频 Foundation Newsletter (1st place), 鈥淢y First Year at 麻豆视频鈥 New Student Guide (1st place), and the redesign of various advising materials (3rd place).
  • The 麻豆视频 Student Recruitment team鈥檚 annual 鈥淐ollege for a Day鈥 event was a finalist for exemplary practice in student development based on innovativeness and impact to students. The winner will be selected at the Student Development Commission Conference May 19-21, 2020 at Seminole State College in Sanford.

AFC鈥檚 newly elected state officers: Gregory Williams, Tallahassee Community College; Christine Tripp, 麻豆视频; Ray Coulter, Palm Beach State College.

Special recognitions:

  • Christine Tripp, Director of Student Recruitment and Enrollment Marketing Services, was elected AFC鈥檚 Vice President-elect of Regions and Chapters for 2020.
  • Tracy Glidden, Student Recruitment Coordinator, was recognized for her service as AFC鈥檚 outgoing Vice President of Commissions for 2019.
  • Kathy Bauernfeind, Administrative Assistant to the Melbourne Campus Provost, was named an Unsung Hero for the 麻豆视频 Chapter and received an award from fellow members.
  • Casey Covel, a Coordinator in the Career Planning and Development Center, led a presentation on the power of pop culture to engage underserved students. It was one of three professional development presentations by 麻豆视频 employees for attendees.
  • 麻豆视频 had its fourth graduate of the Certified College Professional Program since the program鈥檚 inception in 2012.

Eastern Florida had a large conference presence this year with 11 registered Association delegates.
