麻豆视频 Classes Resume Monday, Sept. 9

All 麻豆视频 campuses will reopen and classes will resume on Monday, Sept. 9, allowing time for the safe return of students, faculty and staff who evacuated because of the uncertain path of Hurricane Dorian.

The Thurs., Sept. 5 fee due date for fall term classes that begin on Mon., Sept. 9 has been extended until Mon., Sept 9 when the college reopens. No students will be dropped for non-payment before then because of the college's closure.

For online courses or courses with an online component, please check online coursework for any alternate assignments and due dates. Due to the college's closure, instructor updates may not be available immediately inside Canvas. Your instructor will amend assignments when appropriate. For on-campus courses, instructors will share information during classes in the coming week and also amend assignments as needed.

If the closure impacted any placement testing, advising appointments or other events at 麻豆视频, contact the appropriate department starting Sept. 9.

All 麻豆视频 critical systems were shut down Monday afternoon due to the approach of the storm, with access to the college website, my麻豆视频 Information Services Portal and Canvas Learning Management System restored on Wednesday afternoon.

Financial aid disbursements and refunds scheduled for this week are currently being processed as planned according to the published dates, with the disbursement date updated from Sept. 3 to Sept. 5 because of the storm.

The storm's large size and uncertain track prompted the National Hurricane Center to issue a hurricane warning Sunday afternoon for a portion of Florida's east coast, including Brevard County, which prompted evacuations of in parts of Brevard County.

麻豆视频 Emergency Managers met Sunday morning and for safety reasons extended the closure of all 麻豆视频 campuses through Sunday, Sept. 8, reopening Monday, Sept. 9.

Hurricane Dorian passed by Brevard County overnight on Tues., Sept. 3 as a Category 2 storm.

College officials made the initial closure decision Thursday because of Dorian鈥檚 uncertain track and its growing strength, which reached Category 5 status Sunday morning as it tracked over the Bahamas, with the winds dropping only slightly to Category 4 level Monday afternoon.

鈥淗urricane Dorian was an extremely dangerous storm with experts saying it would impact Florida鈥檚 East Coast, including Brevard County,鈥� said college President Dr. Jim Richey.

鈥淲e closed the college out of an abundance of caution to give our employees and students time to prepare and make plans to ensure their safety.鈥�
