The association鈥檚 Student Development Commission named 麻豆视频鈥檚 鈥淪tep Up鈥 pilot program as winner of the 2018 Exemplary Practice Award, given annually for innovation and exceptional student services.

鈥淭he award is a testament to the strong support the students received from the college鈥檚 faculty and staff, community members and each other,鈥 said Christine Warner, 麻豆视频鈥檚 Director of Student Recruitment. 鈥淚t was a true team effort.鈥

The initiative, led by Tracy Glidden, an 麻豆视频 Student Recruitment Coordinator, offered a structured pathway for at-risk students in Brevard County graduating from high school in May 2016.

Twelve students participated in the pilot effort, undergoing a rigorous schedule that included full-time enrollment at 麻豆视频, tutoring sessions, advising meetings, mentorships and other support services.

The students successfully completed their first semester in Fall 2016 with nearly 22 credits each and an average group GPA of 3.09, giving many a jump start to successful college careers.

Many of the students have since graduated and gained acceptance to nursing and other programs.
