Â鶹ÊÓƵ Student Wins American Chemical Society Award

An Â鶹ÊÓƵ student has been honored by the Orlando Section of the American Chemical Society for her achievements in the classroom and community.

Alexandra Allard has been named the Outstanding Two-Year College Student for her “hard work, dedication and esteemed pursuit of her career goals.â€

In a nomination letter, chemistry instructor Dr. Lynta Thomas praised Allard for “always being prepared, on time and eager to participate. In addition, she scored well on every examination, receiving the highest possible grades by the end of the course. To her classmates, she was always willing to go above and beyond in assisting with explanations and extracurricular review sessions.â€

Thomas also noted Allard’s work in the community, including volunteering at Harmony Farms and Hospice of Health First and fundraising for various causes.

Allard is scheduled to graduate from Eastern Florida with an Associate in Arts Degree on Dec. 17 and plans to pursue a doctorate in science. She will receive the Chemical Society’s award at a Dec. 5 banquet in Orlando.
