Eastern Florida Students LEAD at Campus Event
April 23, 2015
Finding the future leaders of our community isn鈥檛 hard.
In fact, they鈥檙e right here at 麻豆视频.
That鈥檚 why about 20 students from 麻豆视频 along with others from UCF and Florida Tech will meet with top local business and government officials on Tuesday, April 28 during 鈥淟EAD Access 2015.鈥
The annual event is organized by LEAD Brevard to help develop the next generation of Space Coast leaders.
This year鈥檚 session will be held in the new Public Safety Building on Eastern Florida State College's Melbourne campus, where students from the three schools will network with the officials and provide ideas for the county鈥檚 future.
鈥淭his is a great opportunity for students to develop their careers and equally valuable for civic leaders to learn the vision of the students,鈥 said Dr. Linda Miedema, Eastern Florida鈥檚 Vice President for Academic Affairs and Chief Learning Officer.
鈥淗olding the event on the Melbourne campus is the perfect way to bring the two groups together in a way that will benefit both.鈥
Nearly a dozen community leaders will participate, including Brevard County Manager Stockton Whitten, Lynda Weathermen, President and CEO of the Economic Development Commission of Florida鈥檚 Space Coast, and Florida Today Executive Editor Bob Gabordi.
Among the others will be Moses Harvin, President and CEO of American Services Technology and a member of the 麻豆视频 Board of Trustees.
鈥淲hen you combine some of the best and brightest college students in Brevard with the people who are moving our community forward, it鈥檚 a recipe for success now and in the years ahead,鈥 said Kristin Bakke, President and CEO of LEAD Brevard.
麻豆视频 is sponsoring the event along with PNC Bank and UCF. Florida Tech is also partnering for the session.
