Trustee Harvin Receives Statewide Business Honor

Moses Harvin, a member of the 麻豆视频 Board of Trustees, has been honored as one of the top businessmen in Florida.

The U.S. Small Business Administration named him the recipient of its 2014 Veteran-Owned Small Business Person of the Year Award for the Florida and South Florida District.

In making the announcement, the agency praised Harvin for his efforts and achievements in  helping other businesses flourish.

鈥淵our personal commitment to help small business owners and entrepreneurs with their credit in order to access capital is commendable,鈥 said Francisco Marrero, the agency鈥檚 district director in Miami.

鈥淵our efforts directly contribute to creating and expanding businesses which provides for new job opportunities in our community. Through your resourcefulness and dedication to small business, you are making a tremendous, positive and lasting impact on Florida鈥檚 economy.鈥

Harvin is President and CEO of American Services Technology, Inc., a Rockledge company that serves federal agencies including the Air Force, Army, Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Energy.

The Melbourne resident is a former Army major and recipient of the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal and Joint Service Medal.

Dr. Jim Richey, president of 麻豆视频, called the award an example of Harvin鈥檚 community leadership and commitment to others.

Harvin has received many other civic honors, including being named 鈥淐itizen of the Year鈥 in 2012 by Florida Today for his work in improving the lives of Space Coast residents.
